Kay brings twenty-five years of experience in architecture and community planning. Sparked by the intrigues of a nomadic childhood, Kay realized that architecture is the consummate synthesis of creativity, technicality and sociology. After earning her bachelor's degree in architecture, she went on to study architecture and urban design in Barcelona, diving head first into the exciting pre-Olympic building frenzy. In 1992, Kay returned to Maine, ultimately co-founding A4 ARCHITECTS in 1999. Since that time, Kay has served as President of A4, working personally with all A4 clients from first meeting through project delivery. Kay also served for ten years on the Bar Harbor Planning Board, has mentored students from UMA and EMMC, and serves on the Boards of Directors for the Mount Desert Preservation Society and the Maine Chapter of the AIA. She is the proud mother of four children and enjoys travel and writing.

After earning his professional degree in architecture and urbanism in his native Brazil, he moved to Barcelona where he studied and worked for seven years, earning a Masters in Historic Intervention, a Masters in Architectural Hist-ory and culminating in the completion of his Doctoral coursework in architecture. He seems to have survived the culture shock of moving from Barcelona to Bar Harbor, having "made it though 19 winters". Augusto co-founded A4 ARCHITECTS in 1999, where he has delighted many a client and builder with his amazing talents as an artist and architect. Augusto is especially gifted with hand-sketching, the integration of interior design into his projects, and is a noted photographer whose work can be seen in numerous international publications, exhibits and book jackets.
